Foliage on segment 01-C of the Ouachita Trail.
Back in early September (Sept. 5) segment 01-C (5.8 to 8.0) of the Ouachita Trail. I started at the Deadman’s Gap Vista Trailhead. (The trailhead is actually 800 feet or so down the hill from the vista.) The other end of this segment is at Forest Road 6010.
I enjoyed the hike but it would have been nicer had there not been the biting horseflies. (The like to come out in the late summer.) They were particularly vicious whenever I would stop moving.

I found it a fairly strenuous hike with an elevation change of about 500 feet.
