Albert Pike Flood Search Approaches End 2010-06-15

On Monday June 14, searchers recovered a 20th fatal victim of the June 11 flash flood tragedy at the Ouachita National Forest’s Albert Pike Recreation Area campground. Authorities do not anticipate finding any more victims. A limited search of the area is planned for today.

With the search for human victims nearly finished, assessments of property damage will begin. In addition to the destruction of the Ouachita National Forest’s Albert Pike campground, numerous privately owned structures have suffered severe damage.

  • Two weeks ago we operated on a very special dog. Lucky, as his rescuers call him, had been frantically pacing the shores of the Caddo River in the Albert Pike Campground where 20 campers lost their lives in a tragic flashflood in the early pre-dawn hours of June 11th. Lucky was apparently looking for his owners. We put together this little video of Lucky’s Story. Maybe someone will recognize Lucky and know what happened to his family. http://www.youtube.com/azzorevet#p/a/u/0/Z2gqTQ-b4Sg
