View from above the waterfall. As I mentioned in this video footage post, on Saturday my girlfriend and I had a nice visit to Mount Nebo State Park (near Russellville, Arkansas). It was a chilly day in the 30′s, and but the icicle-covered waterfall was very pretty. Here are some of the photos I took. (Click for larger view.)

The view from behind the waterfall. (It was pretty slippery back there.) Yesterday, my girlfriend and I were at Mount Nebo State Park. Thanks to recent freezing weather, there were a lot of icicles at the waterfall. This is some video of the winter waterfall I took with my cell phone. [Photos I took that day are at this link.]

I had wanted to check out the Historic Van Winkle Trail at Hobbs State Park, near Rogers, Arkansas, since I had watched a segment about the trail on AETN’s Exploring Arkansas. The trail is very easy and is more interesting for its historical information than for its hiking challenge. Stuart’s comment was “that was a trail for little girls.” However, after the marathon backpacking challenge from a few weeks ago, that was the perfect level for me.

I had a cool visit to Mt. Nebo State Park with my son and his girlfriend a few weeks ago. I posted here the cell phone video I took of the waterfall. (When flowing, it is located on the Gum Springs Trail, just a little bit below the rim level at the mountain’s south end.) Here are some photos I took of the waterfall.

View from Dill Point, North Rim Trail (Click photos for larger view.) Autumn is a great time of year for hiking. The temperatures are much more pleasant than in the summer, and nature puts on a great show of color. Here are some fall photos I took in late October at the North Rim Trail at Mount Magazine State Park.
