19 Bodies Found and 1 Missing From Albert Pike Flood Tragedy 2010-06-13

Officials now say that 19 bodies have been recovered from the June 11 flash flood tragedy at the Albert Pike Recreation Area campground in the Ouachita National Forest. Only one person still remains missing.

On Sunday, surviving family members were allowed to come to the campground to gather mementos of their loved ones and to see the steep terrain that made escaping the rising waters at night so difficult.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said the system for warning U.S. Forest Service campers of emergencies will be re-examined.
