Bridge on Overlook Nature Trail by Lake Tenkiller

About a month ago, my girlfriend and I had a nice walk on the Overlook Nature Trail by Lake Tenkiller. The trail is about a mile long and connects Overlook Park to an area close to the Methodist Boys Ranch.

I was excited to see quite a few people walking the trail.

These are some photos I took. (Click for larger view.)

Sequoyah Wildlife Refuge Horton Slough Trail Photos – 2011-10-22

Sally Jones Lake seen from Horton Slough Trail.

Back on October 22, my girlfriend and I had a nice walk on the 1-mile Horton Slough Trail at the Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge, near Vian, Oklahoma.

This is an easy-to-walk paved nature trail. It starts by the headquarters building and follows the Horton Slough to the shore of Sally Jones Lake where there is a very nice viewing area.

Oxley Nature Center: Oxbow Lake/North Woods Trail Loop

Back in mid-September, my girlfriend and I went to the Oxley Nature Center in Tulsa’s Mohawk Park. (Mohawk Park is also home to the Tulsa Zoo.)

Our goal was to hike the North Woods Trail. We got to do that, but it took a little while to figure out where it was.

We started at the “North Woods Unit” trail head. It is on Mohawk Blvd in the northwest corner of the park. It is to the west of the main Oxley Nature Center area.

What confused me initially is that I thought the “North Woods Unit” trail head was the trail head for the North Woods Trail. It’s not. (Unfortunately, there was no trail signage or blazing on the trails. It’s not too difficult to figure them out though.)
